Renaissance Woman Rosalee: A Tapestry of Trauma and Transcendence

Rosalee Laws, aka MommmRwr, is a living, breathing kaleidoscope of contradictions. Born on New Year’s Eve, her life has been a whirlwind of resilience and reinvention, a testament to the indomitable human spirit in the face of unimaginable hardship.

Poverty, abuse, and the specter of death were Rosalee’s unwelcome companions from a tender age. A spirit medium since the age of three, she witnessed the fragility of life firsthand, experiencing over 100 deaths of loved ones, including her father’s imprisonment for child abuse and the loss of her beloved grandmother, who raised her. Yet, amidst the wreckage, bloomed a fierce independence. Working four jobs at once to put herself through college, Rosalee refused to be defined by circumstance.

Her art, a vibrant tapestry of mediums, reflects this indomitable spirit. Surreal landscapes, where memories bleed into dreams and emotions take tangible form, become portals to her lived experience. Through bold brushstrokes and haunting melodies, she weaves tales of loss and love, vulnerability and defiance.

Rosalee’s artistic journey began in the Baptist churches of Tennessee, where her voice soared amidst soulful choirs. This early exposure to music instilled in her a deep understanding of the power of emotion, a quality that resonates in every stroke of her brush and every note of her music.

Her life, a tapestry woven across Tennessee, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City, is as much a part of her art as the paint and pixels she wields. Each city adds a thread to the rich narrative, each experience a brushstroke shaping the surreal landscapes she creates.

Rosalee’s code, the language of the digital world, is another facet of her artistic expression. Self-taught at the tender age of nine on a Tandy computer, she wields technology as an extension of her creativity, blurring the lines between the physical and the virtual.

MommmRwr, the moniker she adopts for her digital works, reflects her playful defiance, her refusal to be confined by labels or expectations. A mother to creativity, she nurtures her art forms with the same fierce love and dedication she poured into raising her own children.

Renaissance Woman Rosalee, a survivor, a creator, a testament to the transformative power of art, invites you to step into her vibrant worlds. Let her broken kaleidoscope pieces guide you on a journey of self-discovery, where loss finds solace in beauty, and resilience blooms in the face of adversity.

This is Rosalee’s art, a love letter to the human spirit, a testament to the fact that even from the ashes of hardship, art can rise, phoenix-like, to paint a future as vibrant and boundless as the human imagination.
